Risk Assessment
AI IMD (formerly Bass-Trigon)
is a leading developer of risk assessment solutions
for the natural gas and hazardous liquids pipeline
and facilities industry. The following list identifies
three levels of algorithms or risk methodologies
provided by AI IMD for supporting pipeline and
facility risk management. All approaches are supported
by a combination of ASME, API and NACE standards
and RP’s, as well as subject matter expertise
and knowledge from the AI IMD user community.
- Level 1 - Threat Screening: This
methodology examines pipelines and facilities
and determines if a threat is or is not present.
Level 1 is typically used to efficiently pin-point
areas where threats exist and further assessment
is advised.
- Level 2 - Indexing: This
methodology is a well accepted approach for
scoring threats and consequences for pipelines
and facilities. Level 2 is typically used to
rank assets for on-going assessment, mitigation
and repair investment.
- Level 3 - NewGen Quantitative: This
methodology is a relatively new approach that
can rank assets and more effectively assess
the impact of assessment, preventive and mitigation
activities. Level 3 Quantitative is capable
of providing time to failure and probability
of failure values, and monetized consequences.
